Reading: Tsubasa Chronicle [3]
Drinking: Meiji Milk [Coffee-flavoured]
Listening to: Carnation - Janne Da Arc ['Arcadia' album]

Hmm surprised? I'm home now. :) I was released at 2.10pm today instead of the usual 5.10pm. Well, first off, Miss Victor wasn't here, so we didn't have Lit lessons. Then, I think the Chinese teacher was angry with us because we're all so half-hearted (or not even half?) during Chinese lessons. So yea, 3 hours early. But of course it comes with a price. I returned with a list of homework, and a Chinese paper to do.

Yesterday was alright. I survived, and to tell the truth, it was pretty interesting, although I am still left there confused as to why certain rituals are performed. But it was an interesting sight... :) And it was my second day of... >=( And that was the thign that left me very embarrassed that day.

No one would know. But the fact that... Okay, here is how it goes.

Near the end, around 9pm, we had a ritual whereby all the family members had to cross this "bridge". I crossed on the first turn and when we were making one round to walk again, my mum suddenly asked, "Hey, you got that thing right." And I said yea. She shooed me out of the line suddenly (in front of everyone) and then called me back again and told me just NOT to cross the bridge (which is a sort of long, metal stool). Imagine that, in front of everyone and ALL THE PRIESTS I was walking alongside Amanda while she walked on the bridge. Even if they don't look surprised, you KNOW they KNOW you are having your period!

And the funny thing is, everyone knows about periods. It's such a natural thing. But oddly, when the opposite gender know I just feel embarrassed for nothing! What is so embarrassing about it?

And it's NOT that I'm questioning my own culture, race, religion or anything but... I always have this question in my head:
Umm women give birth through means of it, it's like, that's sort of why we have periods, it's the coming out of that egg thingy from our ovaries *forgets biology knowledge* so why is it considered DIRTY to be performing certain religious ceremonies like that?
Why were the Chinese treating women as inferior when if there were no women, there would be no men because we are the one who produce the babies, who reproduce and bear the children for 10 months, WHO HAVE TO GO THROUGH PERIODS JUST TO BORN A BABY IN THE FUTURE but yet we were considered inferior (and in some guys' minds, we maybe still are?!)
And all these are when CHINESE TRADITION TELLS US WE HAVE TO CARRY ON THE FAMILY LINE?

Never mind about that.

One of the ceremonies was when the priest would throw items at you and you had to atch. I remember they threw buns, coins, gave out bottles, threw fruits. I was so scared when the fruit flew my way! The way I caught the fruit is exactly how I catch the ball during ball games. I LOOKED CHO COMICAL. Ahh. I picked up 30 cents. Can you believe this, Amanda's dad picked up, like, $1.20. OR MORE. Money money money...

And this reminds me of when we burnt that paper house for my grandpa that costed about $2000-$3000 (uwa so expensive! But it looked really really beautiful.), and the priest was chanting and all, and we were supposed to say, "Huat ah!" (I didn't, and my cousins didn't too XD ) and it means something like 'strike it rich'. Amanda's dad shouted it SO LOUDLY!!!!! XD But that was expected because he is so money-minded. HAHAHA. No wonder he picked up $1.20 while we all seem to never have gotten beyond $1. Some of us never picked up any coins at all. (Like my mum.)

Most of the time we were having ceremonies in front of the altars and house, and were holding joss sticks. The smoke really hurt the eyes...

But overall it was omoshiro~~

Except well that crossing bridge part. >.<

I listened to NEWS Nippon two days ago haha. Brought back a lot of memories. I mean, I didn't follow NEWS in 2003 and 2004, but it reminded me of when I first started liking NEWS, when Tegoshi was so BOYISH. XD Okay he is still now but he is more of KAKKOI.

Hmm Tegoshi sang Uchi's part in TEPPEN on Music Station (yes I finally watched it). YAY-ness haha.

Well, guess I'll get started on homework. (And burn some more discs... Even though now that space has been upgraded my computer has more space, but I have this obsession with clearing things from my computer so that not too many things are left there forgotten and taking up space.

Solitude

2005'07.17
and as the window closed, she shut her eyes,
the fluid crystal trickling from the corner of her eye.
her legs dangling, far far far up
away fron anybody
tortured by the familiarity
of loneliness
embraced by the caresses
of silence
hurt by the chain
of concealment
Killed by the thought
of denial.

-taken from Faith's blog.

I just want to share something that my very cute Sylvia taught the few lucky lot of us.

HOW TO NOT COMPLETE YOUR HISTORY ASSIGNMENT AND GET AWAY WITH IT:

1) Do half of the questions, eg, Questions 1-3.

2) When you run out of time, stay calm and do not panic. I repeat, do not panic.

3) Get a piece of empty fullscap paper

4) and staple it to the back of your written answers.

5) Tear three quarters of that empty fullscap paper

6) leaving a dog ear of it dangling, hanging, and clinging for its dear life to the staple lead.

7)Pray hard. Yes. Pray very hard that your dear stapler will save your life.

8) When questioned by X teacher, stay calm and do not panic. I repeat, do not panic.

9) Immediately assume a humble, innocent and extremely hardworking face.

10) If possible, your eyes should enlarge @.@ and should read, "I WORSHIP YOU". Your body language should read, "I WORSHIP YOU" as well.

11) Tell X teacher with a serious voice, "Questions 4 and 5 flew away".

12) Make sure that all your classmates maintain composure and keep very very straight, solemn and serious faces (although they think that the words "flew away" are damn funny and are an obvious giveaway to your lie).

13) If X teacher does not get it, it would be strongly encouraged and advisable for you to start flapping your arms up and down to imitate the movements of your paper flying away. If you encounter difficulties, pretend you are a bird.

(For sound effects, get your classmates to act as nuns from The Sound of Music, clasp their hands together and sing, "How do you solve a problem like Sylvia? How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? Oh how do you make her home work stay and listen to all she says...")

14) X teacher would then be led to think that you have lost your mind due to the severe stress of being in NYJC and learning History

15) And would contact the IMH (Institute of Mental Health)

16) And will cease to pursue after your History assignment.

By the way, the above scenario did NOT happen, although Sylvia was very much tempted to put the idea to the test.

=====INTERVIEW PORTION=====

Yamapi: Everyone in Taiwan, long time no see!!
NEWS: NEWS desu!!
Yamapi: Our album, TOUCH is out already,
Koyama: Please support us, everyone!
NEWS: Onegaishimasu~

=NEWS Self-introduction=

Koyama: Koyama Keiichiro desu~ 21 years old.
Yamapi: Yamashita Tomohisa, eh, 20 years old! (in chinese) I am Yamashita Tomohisa. (wo shi shan xia zhi jiu)
Massu: (in CHINESE) I am Masuda Takahisa. (wo shi zeng tian gui jiu) Masuda Takahisa desu~
Kusano: Kusano Hironori, 17 years old~ (in chinese) I love Taiwan. (wo ai taiwan) *nods*
Tegoshi: Tegoshi Yuya, 17 years old desu~ Everyone, "Tegoshi desu", please follow me! *does hand action*
Shige: Kato Shigeaki, 17 years old~ Today, Uchi and Nishikido-kun are not here...
Yamapi: Actually, NEWS is made up of eight people. I hope we can come out as eight people the next time!

=The Most Memorable Thing when in Taiwan=

Koyama: The Taiwan fans have written letters to us in Japanese, or they use the Japanese language to ask us to ganbatte... Even though I don't know Chinese, but everyone cheering us on in Chinese, that made me really happy and touched. Arigatou to Taiwan fans.
Yamapi: There were many fans who made a lot of effort to come to see us at the airport, and at that time I could feel the fans' sincerity. And just like what Koyama said, the fans were enthusiastically cheering us on in Chinese, and I'm very happy about that.
Massu: Although it was already October by that time, but the atmosphere at our performance arena was very heated and high. It was a very good performance.
Kusano: When I went to Taiwan I really loved eating Dragon Fruits. It was really good to eat and I was very touched.
Tegoshi: The last time I went to Taiwan, that was my first trip overseas. The enthusiam from the fans was overwhelming. Even though I had only been in NEWS not long back then, but the airport was really crowded with fans, and I could feel their warmth, thus completing a genki and happy performance in Taiwan. Thanks everyone~
Shige: We were late by 2 hours when we reached the airport, but there were still about 5000 people waiting for us at the airport. That was a really pleasant concert performance. I hope we can go to Taiwan again!

=Working together with people of different styles to come out with an album. Thoughts?=

Massu: PE'Z-san is the jazz master around, and it was really refreshing to have NEWS try out jazz. We also had Scoobie Doo's rock and roll. We've tried a lot of various styles of music for our first debut album.
Kusano: There is also 决明子RYOJI (T/N: ???)'s composed song. It's what NEWS haven't tried before. And everyone completed it excellently. Hope everyone can appreciate this portion.

=Most Memorable Song in Career=

Yamapi: This time, there's a song in the album that I've written and composed myself. For the performance, I brought out my composition again, thinking about the meaning of the song while I went for the recording. That is what left the most impression on me.
Tegoshi: "Zutto" has been left/hidden for a year, but I and Massu really put effort into singing it, and because I really am fond of love songs (T/N: he says BALLADS, but subs put love songs), I have been practising very often with Massu, constantly thinking of what way we should present the song. I hope everyone will listen to it!

=Most Memorable Happening During the Countrywide Tour=

Koyama: If I were to use a single sentence, then I would say that this performance trip has made the eight of us even closer, and I can feel that NEWS is slowly becoming a really great group. Before the final performance, I even told Masuda that he mustn't cry, because if he cries, it'll spoil everything.
Shige: But he still cried in the end ne? (smiles) When the concert ended.
Koyama: But in the end, he was crying during the performance! Even I was affected by that. When this concert tour ended, there was a sense that we had accomplished something really great. This is a good memory.
Shige: We also saw the surprising other sides of our members. It was a really good experience.

=To the Taiwan Fans=

Yamapi: We really hope to hold another concert or Live in Taiwan, and we hope everyone can support us. We only have six of us here now, but I hope it'll be all eight of us next time! From now, we hope NEWS will continue to develop and grow up, and that everyone will be behind us.
NEWS: Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!!
(Yamapi waves at camera)

=NEWS PV: Kibou ~Yell~=

=NEWS Interview Shot=

Yamapi: NEWS first album "TOUCH" is out!
NEWS: Everyone please listen to it!!

=Press Conference in Taiwan=
(NEWS are on a 360 degrees stage.)

MC: Everyone, please quieten down a little alright? Hai, we're going to have the press conference now. Members of NEWS, otsukaresama deshita!
NEWS: Otsukare deshita!! (T/N: err or something along those lines lol! they were spekaing all at once, they were jumbled up.)
MC: There really are a lot of people -- The fans in here, and the fans who couldn't get inside the building! There are a total of about ten thousand fans!
NEWS: Arigatou gozaimasu! (and all their thanks etc etc )
MC: How do you feel about this kind of public press conference?
Koyama: When I arrived just now, I got a big shock! I didn't know it was going to be held like this! I'm really happy today.
MC: Just now, the crowd was singing Cherish together, did you hear them?
Ryo: Iya, we didn't hear it...
Someone: That's a pity!
Koyama: Because we only just arrived, sumimasen!
Ryo: Sou sou, sumimasen!
Koyama: We only just arrived...
Ryo: Sumimasen~
MC: But to everyone (every one of the NEWS members), you CHERISH all the fans who have come here, and they are very important to you, ne?
Someone (in NEWS): That is of course!
(The other NEWS members also say the same thing...)
MC: The first time of a country-wide concert tour has just ended, how does everyone feel?
Koyama: Even though the event has ended, we still have a lot of areas where we can grow up/improve, and our fans have always been supporting us. Thanks to the fans, we were able to make it to this point, so I hope that we can have another tour like this soon!
Uchi: Because of everyone's support, our first album TOUCH got 1st on the 公信榜. (T/N: Err is this Oricon charts?) Thanks to all our fans.
Yamapi and Uchi: Hai, thanks everyone!
MC: Today's performance will be the last one already, are you all feeling sad about it?
Uchi: Yea, of course... At the very end, Massu actually even cried. He let his tears down, and every one of us were influenced by it, and we were all nearly going to cry too.
MC: Masuda, what were your thoughts at that time? That moment when you cried.
Massu: How should I say it.. It's just like now. Everyone, from the start of the concert two months ago, have been suporting us, and because I felt everyone's enthusiasm and sincerity, so I couldn't help but let my tears fall.
MC: Even when Masuda is saying that, he seems to be almost going to cry again!
Uchi: Sou, he looks like he's going to cry again!
Massu: The fans who are behind us ... Arigatou~

=NEWS 'Akaku...' PV=

=Back to Press Conference=

MC: Yamashita-san, what are your thoughts?
Yamapi: I feel that time passed really quickly. We also received lots of fans' letters, thanking us for bringing them energy, but I feel that the ones who have received the energy is us instead.
MC: Just now Koyama mentioned that we have each grown up more, so in what area do everyone feel that NEWS have grown up after this event?
Koyama: I think everyone would feel differently about this, but on the aspect of performance, and also when I see the audience in front of me, I get nervous, but after this concert tour, I also gained more confidence, and dare to look at the crowd. I feel that even though this is a small improvement, but still I think I have grown up gradually.
MC: What about Yamashita-kun?
Yamapi: Where I've grown up ne... I think everyone's team spirit is building up, and our gap with the audience is starting to get smaller. I hope in the future, everyone can advance ste by step together.
MC: And what about Nishikido-kun? (There are two MCs who were saying this at the same time)
Ryo: Eh? (he is quite alarmed at his name being called) There were two of them trying to say that at once! (turns to see which one he should face. Koyama directs him to the one on his left.)
MC 1 (on the right of Ryo): Ah, sorry!
MC 2: Where do you feel you have grown up this time?
Ryo: Boku desu ka?? How should I say this. Every time... Every time we perform again and again, we'll always cheer each other on, and at this point I would always feel this feeling is really good. Something like that. Sumimasen.
MC: Did your love with Uchi deepen because of this?
Uchi: Our relationship is really deep! Ne?
Ryo: Hai!
(Uchi laughs and bends down.) (T/N: This is CUTE!)
Uchi: But really, me and Ryo-chan spend a lot of time together, and we also work very hard together in Kanjani8. Every night when there is a concert, from the restaurant to the hotel room, we really have talked about a lot of personal things. (Ryo gives a 'hai'.)
Koyama: This time we did the tour together as eight people, and I got the sense that we actually were united together as a whole this time.
MC: So everyone is hoping to reach for the TEPPEN (top) as eight people together?
Yamapi: Of course of course. We'll aim for a higher goal the next time. What is popular is always changing, so I hope we won't get kicked out of trend. Everyone can shine in his own light and work towards this goal.
MC: Kusano and Kato, please say something as well. Ato Tegoshi mo! About the tour this time. Ah Massu too! Massu please come to the front too! Please tell us what was the most memorable thing on this tour?
Kusano: Because we went to a lot of differnt places, I received a lot of enery from the fans. At our last destination here, our fans have given us a lot of support, and even though at the start I told myself to bring energy to the crowd, but it turned out that the fans have given me the energy instead. To put it simply, MINNA, I'VE HEARD AND SEEN YOUR SUPPORT!! (He poses! lol)
MC: You've brought up the heat of the crowd ne...
Shige: When we wave our hands, the crowd will also wave back at us, and when we dance to Cherish, the audience will dance too. Every action we do, we wil get a response, and this is the most memorable thing to me. I will always think this way during concerts, and it makes me feel that holding a concert is really great.
MC: The crowd is also enthusiastically supporting you guys today!
Shige: Hontou ni, thanks everyone!
MC: Next is Masuda-kun...
Massu: From the start of the concert tour, everyone has been shouting "NEWS!" "NEWS!" to support us, and just like our song Cherish, I hope to cherish this relationship with our fans. Really, thanks everyone.
MC: Which means you have had a very treasurable time with minna ne?
Massu: Hai.
MC: What about Tegoshi-kun?
Tegoshi: When the concert tour first started, when I locked eyes with the audience, I always felt uneasy, but as I performed more and more in each concert, everyone was smiling and looking at me, which led to me getting more confidence in looking back. This is an improvement to me. I hope to do more of this tour in the future, until I am even able to look at the audience from 10cm away!
Kusano: That's too close.
Tegoshi: Ganbarimasu! I hope everyone will support us!
MC: It's also a 360 degrees stage here!
Tegoshi: Sou desu ne. Fans around the 360 degrees stage, TEGOSHI DESU!!!!!!! (he does his hand sign while turning one big round) Arigatou gozaimasu!
Another MC: Sumimasen, we have overseas reporters from afar today, they are DJs from Hong Kong. Lastly we should ask thm to ask a question?
MC: Ah, Hong Kong no Dj...
Someone: Please say a few words to all the Hong Kong and Taiwan NEWS fans.
(Kusano says something with mic still near his lips to Koyama)
Koyama: Why are you saying this to me??
Yamapi: (in Chinese) Hi everyone, we NEWS! (T/N: I left out the 'are' because, well grammatically, when Yamapi said that, he missed out the 'shi' in grammar lol!) This time... eh.. (crowd laughs because he reverts back to Japanese) We'll be trying to develop beyond Japan too. We've performed in Taiwan before, previously, and I hope we can try out more of these performances. Besides Japan, we could develop overseas too. Taiwan fans, please support us! Thanks so much for today.
MC: Let's have each NEWS member say their individual words at the end! Please say something to the fans! Please return to the former lining up arrangement... Please say something to the fans here today and those who couldn't make it here today. Please leave a message as NEWS!
Koyama: Sou desu ne, even though the tour has ended, but in Summer time, we will be performing for SUMMARY, and to those who couldn't make it today, you can also catch us there! Please look forward to it! Thanks everyone!

=CHERISH PV=
